Tourism and Business Students visit Ireland West International Airport in Knock

MBC Tourism with Business students recently partook in an educational visit to Ireland West International Airport in Knock.

Students were greeted by Operations Manager Mr John McCarthy. Mr McCarthy ensured that all students and teachers received their security ID badge and high-visibility jackets before the tour commenced. Mr Donal Healy, Marketing Manager, gave the class an overview of the marketing strategy being used and how new routes are being developed to service the region.

Mr Pearse Concannon, Chief Fire & Security Officer then gave a presentation to the class on key issues facing the airport and airline industry. Students then visited the Air Traffic Control Tower and watched a plane being guided in to land.

The tour concluded with an overview of customer service policy in the airport and a demonstration of how to check-in outbound passengers.

All in all it was a most informative and beneficial trip for all involved.
