Advanced Tourism with Business (Course Code: 6M5012) QQI Level 6

AIMS

This one year Level 6 award provides the learner with the opportunity to work at supervisory level in a variety of tourism related businesses, or to progress to further or higher education and training.

Students will attend work placement on a block basis. One of the great benefits of work experience is that it can lead to a full-time job. Work placement is arranged within the tourism sector or business firms.

The course also offers an opportunity for direct entry into the second year of degree programmes in Institutes of Technology.

Relevant Level 5 QQI Award:

• 5M5001 Tourism with Business (MBC) 
• Other relevant Level 5 Award

Advanced Entry Progression

Students who successfully complete the Level 6 in Tourism with Business in MBC are eligible to apply for advanced entry to the second year of many 3rd Level College Courses including the following:

• AL761 Hotel and Leisure Management (Level 7) Direct entry to year 2 for level 6 graduates
• AL855 Hospitality Management (with International Placement) (Level 8) Direct entry to year 2 for level 6 graduates

 Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology

• GA182 Business (Level 8) Direct entry to year 2 for level 6 graduates
• GA184 Business in Marketing and Sales (Level 8) Direct entry to year 2 for level 6 graduates
• GA377 International Tourism Management (Level 7) Direct entry to year 2 for level 6 graduates
