I enrolled in the Business with Tourism Level 6 course at Moate Business College in 2017/18 as a mature student.
The standard of learning provided to students by MBC is second to none. I found the teaching staff to be extremely helpful in equipping me with all the skills necessary to fully engage and complete the course. I was also fortunate to be included in the Erasmus+ scheme to Italy, which was both enjoyable and beneficial to my course.
Having acquired a Distinction in Level 6 Business with Tourism, this qualification has since resulted in my promotion within the hotel I am employed with.
I would recommend MBC to any student wishing to make that step back into education and commend the College for their professional and engaging teaching methods.

My name is Tatiana Bulakh and I completed the Tourism with Business QQI Level 6 course in 2017/18 in Moate Business College. I am a mature student, who decided to follow my dreams.
Despite the many years of the office administration experience, traveling always was present in my life. It is something that I love to do and talk about, and working in this field has given me an opportunity to share my passion with other travellers from around the world. The Travel & Tourism industry is extremely vast with many job opportunities such as travel agents, tour guides, tour operators, front office or hotel managers, customer service or airport ground agents and many others. You are also exposed to different parts of the industry and may also find yourself drawn to an area you never thought you would be!
I decided to do the Tourism with Business Level 6 course because I felt that it would fit excellently into my career path, and also because I believed that it will stimulate me and help me to reach my potential. I hoped to develop not only as a student but as an individual, and I am sure that my knowledge and self-confidence has increased after completing the course.
Full-time education combined with a part-time job and family responsibilities was not easy, but it was a real challenge and an invaluable experience for me! Once again, I reminded myself that the busiest people always have time for everything! During my study at MBC I did not only learn about the Travel industry and how to create and deliver a proper sales presentation, prepare, organise and manage an event, deal with customers, manage the human resources, create and process word documents, working as a ground handling agent at the airport, including main international regulations and polices, but I also had an opportunity to improve my time management, organisational, problem solving and communication skills.
Also, I feel honoured to have been chosen to visit Italy for 3 weeks under the Erasmus + program which is run by the college. It gave me a chance to live with a family and get a deep look in to the Italian traditions, life style, food and culture. I took part in many local activities including Alp Mountain hiking, cheese and honey production as well as a visit city to Turin and its famous museums, galleries and churches.
After all, it was a great fun! Here I met fantastic people of different ages and bright personalities. I want to thank the college management, the teachers and friendly staff for all their support and I will miss all my classmates, our teamwork activities, road trips and site visits.
I would highly recommend the MBC to anyone considering undertaking a Further Education Course. The college is located in a beautiful historical town and offers students a range of courses, services and activities, modern computer rooms, affordable fees, canteen facilities and convenient bus routes. It is a real hidden gem within the Midlands, where everybody can make lifelong friends, gain many valuable skills as well as find opportunities for career and personal development.
My time at Moate Business College proved the most crucial to my skillset as an artist. Under the tutelage of my lecturers, I was taught the technical skills of drawing and painting which, upon entering MBC, I would have considered myself just above average.
The Art & Design course helped me to take my observation and technical skills to the next level, enabling me to understand how to process visual information and translate it onto a page or canvas through a variety of mediums.
The solid foundation I gained in Art allowed me to continue developing my abilities following successful completion of my course in Moate Business College. I feel the education I received there has proved invaluable and integral to my artistic practice.
My time in Moate Business College was exceptional. The lecturers are incredibly helpful and are always available for support and guidance. I would like to give a special thanks to the two Bernie’s (lecturers), to this day I tell people how amazing both of you and the other lecturing staff in Moate were to me during my time in the college. Thanks to your help, expertise and guidance, I completed the Level 5 in Nursing Studies.
From there I completed the Bachelors honors degree in Social Care Practice and finally a Masters in Child and Youth Studies. I currently work for Tusla Child and Family agency and I have applied for a PHD in Children and Youth research to commence in September 2018 in UCD. I had the help I needed in Moate, I had the guidance and support, which in turn helped me develop as a student and achieve things that were once beyond my imagination. So Thank you Moate Business College, for the amazing experience and opportunity for growth and development. If this sounds like what you’re looking for, then Moate Business College is the College for you!
I attended Moate Business College from 2015-2017, studying Art and Craft Level 5. It is a part time course run over two years. I always loved art in school but my career took me down a different direction. When the opportunity arose to attend MBC and immerse myself daily in art, it was a delight for me. The art teachers and all the staff were excellent, professional, dedicated and encouraging. They were always available to give advice and support. The amount of knowledge I received was beyond my expectations. I also got the opportunity to go to Italy on a Erasmus programme for three weeks. MBC is a little gem in the midlands and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone, no matter what stage of life you are at.
Moate Business College functioned as a hugely effective stepping stone for me, bridging the gap between secondary school and university. Having finished my leaving certificate at just 17, my parents were reluctant for me to progress to college at such a young age. Moate Business College transpired to be the best thing I could have done! It enabled me to defer my bachelor degree until I turned 18, while gaining a skill set that was invaluable moving forward with my education.
During my Sport and Leisure course, I developed effective research and report writing abilities, which translated seamlessly when it came to assignment writing in university. I chose Sport and Leisure QQI Level 5 at Moate Business College as I was going on to complete a BSc. in Sport and Exercise Sciences at UL. The course gave me the foundations in anatomy, class instruction and principles of training I needed to excel in my bachelor, along with certification in Occupational First Aid, Life Saving and both FAI and GAA coaching qualifications, to name but a few.
I was also very fortunate during my year at Moate Business College, to be accepted for their Erasmus+ Project. Through the project, I completed a 3 week exchange to Northern Italy, where we were hosted by amazing Italian families. It is to date, one of the best things I’ve ever done! I completed my work placement in a gym setting and learned the local language, all the while, making friends for life and becoming familiar with the art of producing homemade pasta.
Moate Business College helped me to grow in various ways and I would recommend it to any student who is unsure about what they want to do, or are thinking of trying something different, or in my case, are just not ready for university yet. The wide range of courses and career advice available are excellent and are complimented by approachable and knowledgeable staff members on campus.
I completed the Level 5 Business and Office Administration in Moate Business College in 2014/15. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the excellent staff of Moate Business College for everything they have done to help me while attending last year. I would highly recommend MBC to anyone who may be considering attending. I thoroughly enjoyed my course in Moate Business College and would recommend anyone considering a career in administration to attend this course as this course covers all aspects you will need in your career and the confidence to pursue to your career in this area. I am certain anyone who has completed this course will agree with me; from attending this course I now have so many new skills which will stand to me in any career I decide to follow so therefore I recommend that anyone considering this course go and do it. The business and office administration course gave you an insight into areas you might not have considered as a career by offering various subjects on their course such as legal studies, which was my favourite, spread sheets, book keeping and typing skills. This allowed us to look in different directions when we completed the course and opened more career opportunities than we had imagined when beginning the course in September.
Moate Business College are part of the Erasmus+ Programme which I was lucky enough to be a part of. I was chosen to go to Romania to complete my three weeks’ work placement. I went with a group of eight people from Moate Business College who were also doing courses there in various areas such as nursing, childcare and social studies. My work experience was very enjoyable. I worked in an office which helped people with disabilities. I set up job workshops and created folders and documents to help these people obtain jobs. As well as working, we also got to do other activities such as skiing, visiting the juvenile detention centre, going to the Opera House and attending some of the parties and events held by the local universities in Timisoara. I would recommend that everyone apply to take part in the Erasmus+ Programme. It was an amazing experience that I would happily relive over and over again.
I could talk all day about how much I recommend Moate Business College and the Business and Office Administration course but I will stop here by saying if you are considering this college in any way possible than apply, you will not be sorry as you will gain massive opportunities and life-long skills.

I applied to undertake the Tourism with Business QQI Level 6 course in Moate Business College in 2016, because I believe it is important to get an international qualification and understand how this amazing industry works in Ireland.
The course is very detailed and gives the students important guidelines in order to enable them to work in different areas of the Tourism Sector such as Hotels, Travel Agents, Event Management, Airports etc. MBC also provides all necessary support on a daily basis and the competency of the tutors is the key to achieving your goals throughout the course.
At the moment I’m working as Receptionist and Booking Agent in the Annebrook House Hotel in Mullingar and my goal is not only to build up a career, but also grow professionally within this sector which offers many areas to explore and eventually become an accomplished professional.
I highly recommend MBC and encourage all international students to take part in one of the many courses available. All your efforts will be worth it in the end.
My name is Johnny Murphy and I am a 28 year old Model Maker and Prosthetic Make up FX Artist from Ballinagore in Co. Westmeath. Art has always been a massive part of my life and ever since I was very young I knew I wanted to work on Film and TV Shows. I remember watching the likes of Terminator 2, Jurassic Park or Star Wars and wondering how did they build those creatures and Prosthetics and how could I learn to do that too.
After I finished Secondary School in Kilbeggan I set out to get my Portfolio together. That’s when I found out about the Moate Business College Portfolio course. It was exactly what I needed and really set me on the road to achieving my goals. After a lot of hard work with the help of great teachers in Moate Business College, I had a strong portfolio that got me in to Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design Model Making, Design and Digital Effects. 3 years later I graduated with my degree and a good set of skills which I immediately began to practice and improve upon. I also began branching out into Prosthetics and FX. For a year or two I sculpted likeness portraits of movie characters and actors for collectors around the world while also working on some low budget films.
During this time I also got the opportunity to teach a 7 week course in Moate Business College which was a great experience in itself. I got to teach two portfolio classes as well as the Art and Craft class a course on making latex display masks. This included sculpting, moulding, casting and painting. It was a great opportunity to see things from the other side of the desk. Its hard work there too.
I have since gotten to work for Nick Dudman (a two time Bafta winner and EMMY and Oscar nominated prosthetic artist) who created the creatures and prosthetics for all the Harry Potter films, Batman and Star Wars to name a few. I worked for him on Season 2 and Season 3 of Penny Dreadful and will be returning to work on the 4th. I have also recently finished working on Season 4 of Vikings for the History Channel and I am currently working on a pilot episode of “Dawn”, a series about the meeting of Modern humans and Neanderthals.
I originally studied Computer Studies in Moate Business College in 2012, at this time I was unsure what I wanted to do as a career. After completing this course, I went on to work in two different jobs and realised the real path I wanted to take. I wanted to become a Travel Agent and my best step forward was to complete the Tourism with Business course. So, I returned to Moate in September 2016 and studied the QQI Level 6 Tourism with Business Course.
During this last year I have learnt so much and have developed myself personally and professionally. I was also lucky enough to be selected to take part in the Erasmus Programme. I got to go to Italy and experience a whole new culture. How amazing is that? With mandatory work experience I got to work in a travel agency which I still work in once a week. I know now that this is the definitely the path I want to take and I know I have a bit to go before I’m fully qualified but I wouldn’t have gotten this far without the course I did here in Moate Business College. My confidence has grown as I know that I can do anything I want once I work hard and believe in myself. All this could not off happened without the help of my amazing tutors and I will be ever so grateful.
